My adobe hut is basically made of dirt bricks. A lot of people express concern about it's durability in the rain. We are in the middle of the rainy season and other than a few minor leaks in the roof very little water enters. The great advantage of adobe is that it is porous therefore after the rains it will dry.

The biggest mistake I made with the construction of this adobe hut was failing to build a rock foundation higher than the surrounding earth. The ground around the hut is so saturated with rain water that the floor has become damp as a result. After the rainy season ends then it will dry out naturally and remain dry through the summer months.

In this video I also make a simple contraption to collect rain water for drinking and I make a torch out of beeswax and cattail fluff.
